People who apply eyeliner inside the lid risk contaminated eye and suffer vision problems.

This conclusion was reached by a study from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, after demonstrating that the particles move eyeliner pencil in the eye.

Dr. Alison Ng, Research Center Contact Lens, led the study in which they used video recordings to observe and compare the amount of eyeliner particles migrating to the tear film-the thin layer that protects his eye after apply eye makeup in different ways.

"We realized that the make-shift occurred faster and was higher when the liner is used inside the eyelid," he said as reported in the scientific portal University Press.

For the study, each participant wore eyeliner outside the lash line and then the closest to the eye or along the inside line (waterline) area. The scientists found that when applied on the inside, within five minutes emigrated to the tear film between 15 and 30 percent of particles if used outside the lash line.

For two hours the particles continued until there was hardly going liner. According to the doctor, the particles can alter the tear film and cause great discomfort, especially in people with sensitive or dry eyes. For contact lens wearers, it can be worse. "If you have stuck to the lens liner, increasing the particles can cause disruption of vision," he said.

Among the ingredients of eyeliners are waxes, oils, silicones and natural gums. They are made to adhere to the skin, but also stick to the lens.
