"Women mostly prefer subtle make-up. Girls want to keep it simple even with their hairstyles. Eye make-up is something people are very particular about," says city-based make-up artist Dr. Suneeta Wavre.

About choosing the right foundation, she advises, "Due to hectic schedules, people have a lot of dark circles and patches on the skin. So for the natural look, we have to use about three shades from the pallete."

From what suits your skin tone to what looks cool on your eyes, we list some of important dos and don'ts when you apply make-up.

Make-up tips
- It is very essential that you take good care of your skin so that the make-up blends well.
- Cleanse your skin before applying any make-up.
- Moisturise your skin.
- When applying foundation make sure you buy one that suits your skin tone. Opt for the stick foundation instead of the the liquid one.
- Use light colour eye shadow, if you are wearing a dark colour ed outfit.
- Blushers should be used subtly. Over-use of blushers is bound to give a gaudy look.
- You can move over lipsticks and try out the fancy gloss sticks available in varied colours.
- Apply make-up half an hour before leaving for the function so that the make-up sets properly and blends well with your skin.
- Never wash your make-up with water. Pour baby oil on a cotton pad and wipe off the make-up gently.
