Going to the spa is downright expensive expensive and it has to be booked months in advance.
But some nights while we are just sit on the couch, watching Scandal or Orange is the New Black, you will decide you face feels dry and needs a little treat- especially now that winter is here! It is dark outside, late and simply put there is no way you are leaving the house. Can you create a face mask from ingredients in your fridge? Yes, is the short answer! We’ve got you covered!
Before applying the mask to your skin remove your make up and you are ready to go. A common misconception is the mask is also a makeup remover. Wrong, makeup actually prevents the mask from being fully absorbed. It also mixes with your leftover makeup and can clog your pores. Please, please, please, start with a clean, freshly washed face!
Depending on the purpose of the mask (cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing) there are a couple different options.
BANANA HYDRATING MASK:
-1/2 banana, 2 tbs honey, 1 tbs warm water. Mash the banana with the other ingredients and apply to your face for 20-25 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
CLEANSING AND BRIGHTENING MASK FOR OILY SKIN:
(If you have dry skin this mask is NOT for you)
-the juice of 1 lemon, 3-4 tbs of coconut or almond oil (olive oil is ok if it is the only one you have), 1 cup of cane sugar. Mix the ingredients and apply with circular motions. This will serve as a scrub. Let it stand for 20 minutes and the lemon will clear your skin while the oil will hydrate it. Rinse with warm water.
VINEGAR TONER MASK:
-1/4 cup of cider vinegar, ¼ of water. Paying attention to stay away from the eyes, apply this formula to your skin. You can also add half cup of plain yogurt.
MILK MASK FOR SOFT SKIN:
-1/4 cup of powdered milk, add water. This will leave your skin soft like a baby.
REVITALIZING YOGURT AND ORANGE:
-1/2 cup of plain yogurt, juice of a slice of orange, 1 tbs of aloe Vera. Mix it and let it stand for 20-25 minutes. This will clean and tighten your pores.
